 November, 2004 - Adware has been criticized for occasionally including code that tracks a user's personal information and passes it on to third parties, without the user's authorization or knowledge.
- This practice has been dubbed Spyware and has prompted an outcry from computer security and privacy advocates, including the Electronic Privacy Information Center.

- Hackers are watching to capture your credit card numbers, passwords, and other personal information.
- Is your employer, spouse, significant other or an unknown criminal spying on you? It's simple for these people to install spyware on your computer and invade your privacy.
- Spyware can be installed remotely without your knowledge and then periodically send your private information by email to the owner of the Spyware.

- The New York Times says 25% of all corporate Internet traffic is unrelated to work.
- Vault.com says 37% of employees surveyed admitted they constantly surfed non-work-related sites while at work.

The "Anti-Spyware" Article in the PC World Magazine, states that Antivirus Programs combat the traditional threats of viruses, worms, and Trojan horses but do little, if anything, about Spyware installed by sneaky Websites or suspicious employers, or via software downloads.
